I've just finished reading Joel Bakan's 'The Corporation' and I absolutely loved it. The book discusses the pressing issue of corporate power in america and its implications on the environment, democracy and the human social condition. Bakan notes the primary fault in the corporate design is that the corporation's primary and only obligation is to the bottom line, and that it's in fact illegal for officers of a corporation to act in a socially responsible way if it hurts the bottom line. I want to know if anyone out there sees a solution in sight for corporate greed and irresponsibility.
